The SEC Childcare Security Package
We have developed a specialized childcare package to ensure your facility maintains the highest standards necessary. This investment will put your facility on the leading edge of safety and security in early childhood education. We’ve assessed hundreds of childcare centers across the country and have provided specific, detailed recommendations to meet the needs of each individual site. Complete the steps below to earn the SEC Certification.
Step 1: Site Assessment
A site assessment generally takes approximately 2-3 hours. A site assessment can, and should, when possible, take place during normal operational hours so everyday operations can be observed. In order to complete the site assessment, your SEC consultant will need to meet with a Director or someone with intimate knowledge of operations, policies, emergency procedures and who can give an in-depth tour of your childcare facility.
The site assessment will include a verbal report, with a detailed analysis of the processes, procedures, training, equipment, technology, and physical security recommendations. Your SEC consultant will visit the designated building site(s) and evaluate vulnerabilities associated with physical security and emergency preparedness. Different than a safety audit, a site assessment is an internal evaluation of an organization’s security posture, whereas a safety audit is an external evaluation of one’s compliance with specific standards or regulations. Our goal is to identify best practices currently in place and any opportunities for improvement related to safety and emergency preparedness.
Step 2: Critical Incident Response Training
Our multi-hazard training program will prepare staff with leading the response to respond effectively during emergencies. Training includes discussions of the four main response options during emergencies – evacuation, shelter-in-place, lockout, and lockdown. It includes an interactive discussion on common physiological responses that occur during emergencies, as well as strategies to combat the potentially debilitating impact of those responses.
Your SEC consultant will conduct a 90-minute training for your staff and we kindly ask that you provide a location that can comfortably seat all participants. After completion of the site assessment and training, your facility will earn the SEC Certified designation, which includes the following:
- An Emergency Plan Flip Chart for each classroom
- Custom tour marketing material for prospective families
- Use of the SEC Certified logo on your website and social media
- SEC Certified window decal
- Certificates of completion
- Facility certificate
Ongoing Security Support.
The SEC Childcare Security Package also includes one-year of security support from date of service, allowing your team to access our consultants at anytime throughout the year when questions or concerns arise.
